Thanks for the awesome review, Culture Collide:
Emily Clibourn is a woman of many talents. A former child actor, Clibourn landed roles on the American version of Heartbreak High and the Christopher McDonald film Children on Their Birthdays,
and the Chicago native has been penning songs since the tender age of
13. Her budding musical talent did not go unnoticed: Baby Bash’s Curtis
Byrd and the Black Eyed Peas’ Antoneus Maximus and DJ Motiv8 have all
collaborated with the phenom.
“For The Love” is the latest sultry single off Clibourn’s debut LP Black Velvet,
out next month. It’s a somber ballad with jazz and soul influences
flowing through its veins. Rife with heartbreak and longing, this number
delves into the psyche of a woman trying to cut herself free from the
spell of a man. Here, she ruminates over his seemingly indelible hold on
her as she belts, “Isn’t it sad how a girl goes mad for the love of a
man?
